About Furniture

Tables, benches, and lighting fixtures are the forte here.  Most of the pieces combine unique wood pieces with metal elements.  And, almost all of the pieces utilize salvaged scraps.

90% of the wood used to make furniture is from reclaimed sources, destined for the dumpster.  These are one-of-a-kind pieces each with a story and life of their own, and thus are given names to symbolize their uniqueness.

Besides salvaged wood and beams, Onyx also utilizes dark steel or copper piping.  For lighting Onyx prefers the look and style of antique edison bulbs.

Much of the slavaged wood Onyx uses, starts out in a sorry state.....rough; splintery; full of nails and rusty screws; occassionally with cement or plaster; often chipped, broken, or split; and possibly home to dozens of insects.
